The Earth Satellite

Sir, —Since attempting to predi cate life and universe means assuming differently from observable fact, an ancient theory can be sustained which has not, to date, been finally refuted, not even by our latest celestial voyager, Nicky the Spud—an imitation, almost inconsequential, of the great universe beyond. This theory discounts “Sincere s” schizophrenic authority, attributing opposing powers to distinctive entities—creator and destroyer, good and evil, etc. It depicts a struggle continuing to finality between them and life, a radiate! transcription of this larger conflict. Ourselves it accredits witn choice where our allegiance shall be placed. Its most devoted advocate? That Son of God of ’Sincere’s” though <my gleaning) his personal fondness was for the more nomely son of man.—Yours, etc..

FRANCIS WM. HEAL. October 20, 1957.

Sir. —Your correspondents seem to have strayed from the point—the satellite. There is no doubt about its existence, but there is a good deal of doubt about such ideas as the existence of God, or the divinity of Jesus, His virgin birth, etc., or the mysterious soul which our senses cannot contact. There is an abundance of belief in all these concepts but no proof, unless we accept as proof the Bible, which was written by men as liable to err or become obsessed i with fixed ideas as we are.— | Yours, etc.,

J. F. RASMUSSEN. Lincoln, October 22, 1957.
