Obituary MRS A. E. DRAYTON

Mrs Alse Emma Drayton, who died in Christchurch on Saturday in her ninetieth year, was the daughter of well-known pioneer settlers of Kaiapoi, the late Mr and Mrs William Edmonds. Mrs Drayton was the mother of Lady Holland, wife of the former Prime Minister.

In her younger days Mrs Drayton was a staunch worker for the East Belt Methodist Church, but she lived a retired life after the death of her husband. Mr A. F Drayton. 30 years ago. Mr Drayton was managing director of Ashby Bergh and Company. Ltd., at the time of his death. Mrs Drayton lived with her daughter lor 20 years, but when Lady Holland went to live in I Wellington, she divided her time between her two sons. Messrs 'Gordon and Arthur Drayton, both |of Christchurch. She is survived by her daughter and two sons.
