BROKEN WINGS PLACED

Broken Wings, the only South Island representative, was a fastfinishing third in the first division of the non-totalisator First Spring Novice Handicap at Trentham on Saturday. The division winners were Silver Romance and Baldwin. Silver Romance made all the running in the first division and won by four lengths from Opo. Broken Wings, one of the last coming to the straight, was galloping strongly in third place three-quarters of a length back. Silver Romance is a three-year-old colt by Knight’s Romance from Taunui owned by Mr H. A. Hintz and trained by A. A. Temperton, of Awapuni. He was ridden by A. T. Jones.

Baldwin and Triple Gold staged a battling finish well clear of the others in the, second division. Baldwin got there by a nose. He is a three-year-old brown gelding by Resurgent from Forth Bridge, owned by Mr B. Sewell and trained at Carterton by T P. Biggs. He was ridden by W. L. Aitken
