What The Queen Wore

(Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 19.

For the British Embassy dinner in Washington tonight, the Queen wore a spectacular Hardy Amies sheath dress of oyster white double satin, with an enormous circular train forming a half crinoline at the back.

The clinging, close fitting skirt was cut in one. The severity of the gown was relieved by a triple pointed neckline on a plain bodice.

With it, the Queen wore a diamond and emerald tiara and a matching necklace, bracelet and earrings.

When she visited the National Gallery of Art and the children’s hospital yesterday, the Queen wore a full-length, double breasted, mushroom-coloured velvet coat A band of velvet encased a snug collar of biscuit-coloured mink

Her dress was of soft mushroom coloured satin with full overskirt tied in front. The dress was lightly touched with embroideries of tortoise shell, gun metal, beige and grey pearls. She wore a turban hat of suede velvet and satin to match.
