Rugby RANFURLY SHIELD CHALLENGES
N.Z. Union Approves Dates iNew Zeatana Press Association/ WELLINGTON, September 2. Otago will defend the Ranfurly Shield against South Canterbury on September 21, and, if still the holder, will play Taranaki on September 29. These arrangements were approved by the executive committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union tonight. Taranaki and Marlborough had lodged challenges for September 28. As Taranaki had already challenged Wellington for the shield this season, it Was agreed to transfer this to September 28. It will also become a special challenge.
