Raffle Tickets

Sir.—Today a little girl, who would be about seven years old, came to the door selling raffle tickets. This is the second time within a few weeks that small children have called on us selling these tickets. I thought children under a certain age were not allowed to sell raffle tickets. Is this correct?—Yours, etc., GILBFRTHORPES ROAD. August 22, 1957. [Chief Inspector E. J. C. Hay said in reply to this letter: “A printed condition on raffle permits is that no child shall be allowed to sell or offer for sale tickets in any street, hotel, shop, office, factory, boardinghouse, place of entertainment, or in any public place.”]
