N.Z. University Beats Western Australia

(N.Z. Press Association—CopyriqM. (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 28.

The New Zealand University men’s hockey team played in appalling conditions of mud and continual rain, which made good play impossible. New Zealand won its fifth consecutive game, beating Western Australia 9-0 after leading 5-0 at half-time. The New Zealand wing forwards played a short-passing game, with the result that Read hit three goals fom outside right; O’Connor, on the left, hit two; R. Smith scored two penalty bullies. Haskell, the inside left, had a difficult position, but hit a perfect goal. New Zealand will play Tasmania on Thursday, and the team for Saturday’s test will probably be announced after this match.
