MAINTENANCE DECISION
“Netc Profession Of Women”
(N.Z. Prase ' PERTH, August 16. Some young married women had a new profession these days, the Chief Justice, Sir John Dwyer,
said in the Appeals Court. He said that they went home to live with their mothers, but had their husbands maintMn them.
Sir Johh Dwyer said this during the hearing of a successful appeal yesterday by a' husband against a decision of the Perth Court of Petty Sessions. The Court had granted Marilyn Roma Greenslade,, of • Applecross, custody of her two children, and £lO a week maintenance. Her husband, Frank Nelder Greenslade, of Enfield, South Australia, appealed against this decision on-the ground that his wife had deserted him. His Honour ruled that an agreement between Greenslade. and his wife, to separate had never been made final. ‘‘His wife demanded to be maintained at the home of her mother—ari'example of a new profession in the lives of young married women,” Sir John Dwyer said. He set aside the Lower Court order. The Court was told that there was no evidence of any marital offences by Greenslade.
