Potato shipments from Lyttelton rose sharply in the last fortnight, compared with the last two weeks in July, The latest figure. 32,286. sacks to all destinations, has been exceeded this year only in the two fortnightly periods in June. Total shipments to date continue to run, well ahead of last year’s figures. Shipments up to last Saturday took Lyttelton’s total past 200,009 sacks, compared With 152,273 sacks shipped last year up to August 4. and 163.745 sacks shipped by August 18. Details of last fortnight’s shipments. with the total to date in parenthesis, are as follows:—To Auckland, 13,847 sacks (65,226); Wellington, 4826 sacks Napier-Gisborne, 5576 (40,612); West Coast, North Island, 6037 (43,231); Fiji, nil' (3392); total. 32,286 (205,423).
