Waikato Beats Bay Of Plenty
(New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, August 4. Waikato won the Coronation Shield from Bay of Plenty at Rugby Park, Hamilton, today by 11-9. The game was very fast and open, but Waikato was fortunate to have the winning margin at the end as it was the Bay which made all the pace and looked the better attacking side. For Waikato, lan Clarke scored a try which was converted by Don Clarke, who also kicked two penalties. F. Martinovich kicked two penalties for Bay of Plenty and R. Oswald kicked one penalty. Waikato led 8-6 at half-time.
