“Inspectors As Teachers”
(New Zea Lana Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug 4 The return of post-primary school inspectors to teaching posts during the next tw*o or three years was advocated at a meeting of educational authorities a: New Plymouth last night This was one of many remedies suggested to relieve the present shortage of post-primary school teachers.
Called by the New Plymouth High School Board, the meeting was attended by principals and staffs of Taranaki post-primary schools, members of controlling school authorities and the members of Parliament for Stratford and New Plymouth (Messi’s I. T. Murray and E. P. Aderman). They will take prepared reports and discuss the deliberations in the meeting with the Minister of Education (Mr R. M. Algie;.
The following resolution wa» passed: “That the members of Parliament for Stratford and New Plymouth convey to the Prime Minister and Minister of Education the meeting’s concern regarding the position of staffing in post-primary schools, and the need for urgent reconsideration of f the oroblem, and that suggested remedies be conveyed to Mr Algie for consideration at a conference of educational authorities to oe held at Wellington on Tuesday.”
