GOLD PATH PICKED
First Leg At Hastings
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. Unlucky in his last two starts. Gold Path deserves a change of fortune in the Awanui Hack Handicap, the first leg of the double, on the opening day of the Hawke’s Bay-Danne-virke Hunt Clubs combined meeting, at Hastings tomorrow.
The going is likely to be firmer, than that in the district in recent weeks, and this may upset the latest form. Howevei, Gold Path has shown his ability in reasonably firm going as well as in winter conditions, and he should hold the opposition Indian Mars is the likely favourite in the Springvale Handicap, the second leg of the double. He failed at Trentham at his last start, but his form at the Hawke’s Bay winter meeting, when he beat all but King of Joy, was good, and he has had time to freshen up again. Selections:—
