ROYAL VISIT INCIDENT

Police Seize Man At Bulawayo

(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, July 8. The Queen Mother was told yesterday of an incident at a garden party which she attended when police seized a man with a pistol in his hand, the “Daily Express” reported today. The man—a young European—was an early arrival at the party, a public multi-racial affair in the central park at Bulawayo, the newspaper said.

He was found standing by a path along which the Queen Mother was to walk to a dais, working the mechanism of a new revolver.

The “Daily Express” said police squad cars were called and the man arrested.

Last night a senior police official said that the man had no ammunition with him when arrested and he had been released later.
