WELFARE OFFICERS’ TASK

Full Use Of Social Services

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 4. The Social Security Department is to appoint qualified welfare officers to deal solely with individual cases and they will use every channel of assistance by making full use of social services given by other organisations. Brocklehurst, the Social Security Commissioner, said tjie department was extending its activities in this way because it recognised that the payment of cash benefits and pensions was not, in itself, sufficient to solve a variety of human problems concerning social benefits.
