Lincoln College B Team’s Success

The Christchurch district committee of Young Farmers’ Club’s senior debating competition this year drew an entry of 12 teams. Three teams entered from Canterbury Agricultural College. Lincoln, and one each from the St Bedes College, Christ’s College, Sheffield. Ellesmere. Darfield. Springston, Avon, Waihora and Ladbrooks clubs. Four elimination rounds were held at three-week intervals and the Lincoln College B team and the Darfield team debated the final to decide the district winner.

This final debate was held in the Lincoln College Memorial Hall before a large audience. The judge, Mr D. W. Lyall of the Christchurch Technical College, awarded the contest to the Lincoln College B team. The following were the results:— Lincoln College B (D. H. Boyd. R. Ellis, and A Black), 306 points, 1; Darfield (D. Bruce, B. Ridgen, D Worsfold). 298 points. 2. The Lincoln College B team will now represent the Christchurch district committee in the Canterbury Council of Young Farmers’ Club’s debating contest and will debate the South Westland district committee in the first round.
