£19,771 Increase In Bar Takings
Bar takings from licensed premises controlled by the Ashburton Licensing Trust for the year to March 31 were £181,499; an increase of £19,771 on the figure for the previous year, according to the annual accounts of the Trust presented to a meeting last evening. An increase of £295 in accommodation takings from £19,136 in 1956 to £19,431 this year—was revealed. The trust ended the year with a net profit of £ 19,542, an increase of £5093 on the figure for last year. Gross profits showed a similar increase, from £69,646 in 1956 to £74,916 this year. Detailed sales for the year, with last year’s figures in parenthesis, were: Devon Hotel, bar £46,283 (£41,441); house, £16,556 (£15,498). Somerset, £57,132 (£51,019). Allenton, £14,800 (£ 12,753). Mayfield, £ 10,219 (£10,730). Hinds, bar, £19,761 (£18,198); house, £lBB7 (£2219). Moore street, £18.347 (£13,705). Mt. Somers, bar, £ 14,957 (£13,881); house, £9BB (£1418). Totals, bar, £181,499 (£161,728); accommodation, £19;431 (£19,136).
