Racing EL KHOBAR’S NEXT START
Special Event In U.S. Today “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, June 26. El Khobar is expected to have his second race in the United States when he competes in a special fourhorse event at Hollywood Park, California. tomorrow. The race will be run over seven furlongs lor 20,000 dollars, and the runners beside El Khobar will be Porterhouse, Bless Bull and Liberal Art. In a radio-telephone call today. Mr W. Fisher, the owner of the horse, said El Khobar had done well during the past week or so. but he might be hard pressed to beat Porterhouse. J. Longden, who is the. stable rider, will be on Porterhouse this time, and El Khobar will be ridden by W. Shoemaker. Porterhouse is the horse that, won what was to have been El Khobar’s first race in the United States—the Express Handicap al Hollywood Park on June 13. El Khobar was scratched after he bolted before the start and Porterhouse won. making a world record of Imin 2 2-ssec for five fulrongs. El Khobar, when he won his first nee in the United States last week, also ran exceptionally fast time, imin for six furlongs. Porterhouse is considered the best sprinter in the United States, and he has won more than 500,000 dollars in stakes. According to Mr Fisher, It will be decided after the race whether El Khobar will contest the Hollywood Gold Cup. He said he had received several big offers for the horse, but was not interested.
