Petition On Bomb Tests

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 26.

A petition asking the House of Representatives to resolve that there should be an immediate and complete tuspension of the testing by explosion of nuclear weapons was presented on behalf of the Auckland Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, or Quakers, in the House this afternoon by Mr N. J. King (Opposition, Waitemata). The petition referred to recent public meetings in Auckland, and asked that New Zealand refrain from taking part in tests. It also asked that New Zealand take active steps to promote agreement among nations to ban the manufacture and testing of nuclear weapons.

The petition was referred to the Public Petitions Committee.
