APPEAL LAUNCHED FOR YOUTH
Shooting Victim At Reefton
An appeal for a Reefton youth, Rex Fattorini, who was accidentally shot through the chest when on a shooting expedition with a friend and whose spinal cord was severed, was launched at a meeting in Reefton last evening.
The meeting was attended by more than 20 representatives of local organisations. Rex is expected to remain paralysed from the waist down for life and the object of the appeal is to provide for his education so that the life he will have to lead may be fuller, said the secretary of the appeal committee, Mr W. Gore Porter, last evening.
“We have had an excellent response so far. Local organisations have all undertaken to lend their support an ' local bodies we have approached have agreed to open subscription lists. We have received several contributions already from as far away as Motueka.’’
At last evening’s meeting subcommittees for various districts were appointed. The Inangahua County Council has agreed to act as central receiving agent for the fund.
Rex is at present undergoing physiotherapy at Dunedin.
