IN THE MATTER of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1954,” "The Local Authorities Loans Act. 1956,” “The Rating Act, 1925,” Section 7 of "The Local Authorities Interest Reduction and Loans Conversion Amendment Act, 1934,” "The Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act. 1941.” IT IS HEREBY PUBLICLY NOTIFIED that it is the intention of the Rangiora Borough Council at an Ordinary Meeting of the Rangiora Borough Council - to be held at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 1957, in the Borough Chambers. Percival street, Rangiora, to MAKE and LEVY the undermentioned RATES upon the Rateable Value (on the basis of unimproved value) of all Rateable Properties appearing in the Valuation Roll now in force in the Borough of Rangiora for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1957, and ending on the 31st day of MARCH. 1958. (1) As to the whole of the Borough of Rangiora, a consolidated rate of fifteen pence (15d) in the £ on unimproved value comprising: (a) A General Rate of thirteen decimal point two pence (13.2 d in the £ under section 90 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954. (b) Special Rate of one decimal point eight pence (1.8 d in the £ for loan charges as follows under section 47 of the Local Authorities’ Loans Act, 1956. Street Works and Town 1 Hall Loan .. .. .375 (2) Water Rates (ordinary supply) < under sections 95 and 96 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1954, in respect of all property in the special rating areas as defined: (a) Upon all land and dwelling houses to which water is supplied, a water rate of two and one half pence (2Jd) in the £ on unimproved value, provided 1 that if such rate would produce less than one pound (£1) in « respect of any such land or < dwelling-house a charge of one : pound (£1) will be made and levied. 1 (b) Upon all lands and dwelling- ; houses within the Water Rating Area as defined to which water ; can be, but is not supplied situate within one hundred • yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate of ONE HALF OF THE WATER RATES : above mentioned. (c) Upon all buildings other than dwelling-houses within the Water Rate Area as above mentioned, a rate of ONE HALF OF THE WATER RATES above mentioned. The above Water Rates being for the purpose of the supply of Water and Maintenance of Waterworks. (3) A Drainage Rate under section 103 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1954, in respect of the special rating areas as defined, and to other properties outside such special areas connected to a public drain by arrangement, of one penny (Id) in the £ on the unimproved value, for the maintenance and extensions of public drains within such defined areas. (4) A Special Rate under section 47 of The Local Authorities Loans Act, 1956, of one penny three farthings (1.75 d in the £ on unimproved value of all property in the special rating area as defined in respect of the No. 2 Conversion Loan, for payment of the loan charges in respect of such loan. (5) As to the Special Rating Area of Portion of the Borough of Rangiora (the boundaries of which are defined in the New Zealand Gazette No. 1 of January 10, 1952, page 31). A Special Rate of five pence in the £ (sd) on the Unimproved Value under the provisions of Section 47 of "The Local Authorities Loans Act, 1956” for payment of loan charges of the Rata street and Elizabeth street Water Loan. (6) As to the Special Rating Area of Portion of the Borough of Rangiora (the boundaries of which are defined as lots one to eleven, inclusive and part lot twelve D.P. 9559 R.S. 473 Rangiora Borough) a special rate of four pence in the £ (4d) on the Unimproved Value, under the provisions of Section 47 of "The Local Authorities Loans Act, 1956” for payment of loan charges of the High street West Loan. (7) NORTH CANTERBURY CATCHMENT BOARD RATES: Under the provisions of section 95 of The Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act by direction of the said Board and in pursuance of a Special Order made by the said Board on June 1, 1956. rates as follows, being in respect of all rateable property in the Borough of Rangiora. (a) Administration Rate of decimal point two eight eight eight pence (.2888d) in the £ on unimproved value. (b) Ashley Area—a rate of two decimal point eight one eight five pence (2.8185 d in the £ on unimproved value, being the equivalent rate for class "B” lands in such area. (c) Ashley Area—Special Rate. A rate of decimal point one nought six pence (.106d) In the £ on unimproved value, being the equivalent rate for class "B” lands in such area. (d) Waimakariri-Eyre-Cust Area—a rate of decimal point one five one five pence (.1515d) in the £ on unimproved value, being the equivalent rate for class *’F” lands in such area. UNIFORM ANNUAL FEES: A Uniform Annual Fee under Section 102 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1954. of four pounds (£4) for the period commencing on the Ist. dav of April, 1957, and ending on the 31st dav of March. 1958. in respect of each pan contained in closets and privies upon such properties in the Borough of Rangiora as have a house or houses erected thereon and are liable to such fee. RFBATE: That in accordance with the provisions nf section 64 of The Rating Act, 1925. a rebate of five per cent. (5 per cent.) of the amount of the aforementioned Consolidated Rate be allowed providing that all rates made and levied for the yer ending 31st March, 1958, are paid before the expiration of thirty (30) days after the Ist August, 1957. IT IS FURTHER PUBLICLY NOTIFIED THAT the whole of the before-mentioned Rates and the Uniform Annual Fee will be pavable at the Office of the 'Rangiora Borough Council, situate at Percival street. Rangiora, in one sum on the Ist day of August, 1957. and that the Valuation Roll is open for inspection without fee by all Ratenjvers during office hours, which are from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m..
