FARM WORKER KILLED

Tractor Capsizes At Darfield

A young farm employee was killed yesterday when the tractor he was driving capsized over a bank and landed on top of him.

He was Eric John Rollinson, aged 18, the son of Mr J. H. Rollinson, of 64 Brisbane street, Christchurch.

Mr Rollinson was employed by Mr William Deans, of Sandown Station, Homebush, near Darfield. About 4 o’clock he was driving a wheeled tractor up a slight grade on a hillside when it capsized and fell about four feet down a bank, pinning him beneath it.

The accident was not discovered until 4.45 p.m. when Mr Russell Deans arrived on the scene. Dr. J. W. Avery, of Darfield, who was called, considered that death had occurred instantly. The accident took place about two miles from the homestead.

An inquest will be opened on Monday.
