TROTTING Parable Expected To Win At Forbury

If Parable is to win a race this season it should be in the Southland Handicap, which will be run •"> over two miles on the final day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s winter meeting today. Raced by Mrs L. E. Padget, of Invercargill, Parable is trainetl by J. B. Pringle at Templeton. So far this season he has been placed in 15 of his 24 starts and he has earned' £1075 in stakes.

Last week, with a little luck, Parable would have been a winner. He went under by a nose to Quo Vadis over two miles, and later in the day he was fourth in the Renow Handicap, a head, a neck, and a head behind the winner, Blue Jay. Parable has been racing most generously, and his efforts have deserved better fortune. Air Command paced a sound race for fourth over two miles last week after being well back in the field for most of the way. The Light Brigade gelding won on the course earlier in the season, and he could easily surprise today. Blue Jay has gone back 24 yards for her win last week in a sprint race. She was only a nose from Parable in third place over two miles earlier in the day, and another bold showing is expected from her. Blue Jay has struck a solid patch of form lately and has not yet stopped winning.

Responsive, which broke in her races last week, has plenty of ability, and if she races generously she may be placed. She was a winner at Methven in March.

Upward, Stylish George and Quo Vadis are others expected to race well. Probationers’ Race

Mulgrove is selected to win the Fairfield Handicap, a race for probationary drivers. Trained by S. A. Edwards for Mrs Edwards. Mulgrove was a winner Jwo starts ago at Nelson in February He has a good style of pacing and should be one of the hardest to beat.

Chappelet, a member of D. G. Nyhan’s team, was a winner at Hutt Park early in March at his most recent start. This will be his first start for his new trainer, and he should be prominent. Banquier, which will be bracketed with Fame, was a useful second to Fourth Edition last week. Banquier is usually most reliable. General Advance, which has been placed in three of his last four starts. This Time, third in her race last week. Lady Attack and Tonga are others likely to show to advantage.

Super Royal, runner-up to Derive oyer one mile and a quarter at Addington on April 6 and a good fifth in the free-for-all on the next Saturday, mav win the Farewell Handicap, the sprint race on the card.

Light Nurse, an unlucky third in a similar race last week, may extend Super Royal. Light Nurse has been racing well "Without luck lately and she could easily add to her record. Don Hall paced a sound race to beat all but Derive last week after starting from the outside of the front mark. If he races as well again he should be placed. Lady Shona, fourth in last week’s sprint. Spring Walk. Ricochet and Scottish Brigade are other prospects in an open race.

The First Leg ght Nurse, .Highland Air and Super Royal are a likely trio for the first leg of the double, the Queen’s Handicap. They will meet stern opposition and will not dominate the race. Among those expected to race well are Marshall Foi, Don Hall, Lady Shona and Invicta. Aksarben, Fourth Edition and Next Time are selected to fight out the finish of the second leg. the Peninsula Handican, in which the chances of Girl Brigade.

Crimson Star, East Dome and En Avant are also highly regarded.
