ANOTHER FIRE IN MIGRANT SHIP

Small Blaze Causes Spate Of Rumours

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 2. Fire which broke out this afternoon in bedding in the crew’s quarters of the 13,876-ton immigrant ship Captain Cook sent a flurry of rumours through Wellington that incendiarists had “done it again.” Today’s small outbreak, which was probably caused by a cigarette was quickly put out, and the fire brigade was not called. The police are still inquiring into the cause of Monday night’s fires. After three days of intensive

inquiries among crew and passengers in Wellington, the police are now questioning persons outside the city. There have been no arrests.
