Improved Condition Of Mrs Twomey
(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, April 27. The condition of Mrs Shirley Twomey had improved slightly, the Carlisle infirmary reported this afternoon. Mrs Twomey was seriously injured in a crash on Easter Monday in which her husband, Commander Bernard Lawrence Twomey, of the Royal New Zealand Navy, and their two children died. The hospital reported that, although Mrs Twomey was still seriously ill, the coma in which she had lain for five days had broken in the last few hours for [brief periods.
