Stoppage At London

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, April 13. . Qantas Empire Airways today cancelled its Sydney-London flight timed to leave at 10 p.m., and dismissed eight more pilots. This followed the failure of talks designed to muster a crew for the Super-Constellation flying the service. Two of the pilots dismissed today were London-based, but the others were based on Rome.

The Italy-based pilots will have to find their own transport home, and be responsible for their expenses.

British pilots had advised the British Overseas Airways Corporation that they would not fly extra aircraft catering for offloaded Qantas bookings, a spokesman said.

This meant that passengers booked with Qantas would have to be allotted to 8.0.A.C. flights as seating became available.
