Britain Imports Less Meat
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.AJ LONDON, April 10.
Britain’s meat imports in the first quarter this year showed a 6 per epnt. drop on the comparable figure for 1956. At the end of March stocks in Britain, at 86,500 tons, showed a 30 per cent, drop from the March, 1956, figure of 122,700 tons.
These figures are given in a report from the Commonwealth Economic Committee. The report says chilled beef imports rose 12,600 during the quarter, but the decline in frozen beef and mutton more than offset this increase.
