FATAL COLLISION
Elderly Cyclist’s Death
An elderly man who was injured when the bicycle he was riding and a truck collided at the corner of Helmores lane and Harper avenue at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital five houfs later. He was: Peter McCaskill, aged 82, of 11 Hewitts road. The truck was driven by Mr Brandon Dunn, of 844 Avonside drive. Mr McCaskill is survived by his daughter, Mrs J. Needham, of Christchurch, and his son, the Rev. Frank McCaskill, of Keith, Scotland. A sister, Mrs C. Minifie, lives at Timaru.
MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED
(New Zealand Press Association) WHAKATANE, April 9. An 18-year-old motor-cyclist was fatally injured at Thornton late last night when he ran off the road and crashed into the bed of a small stream. He was: James Keepa Lawson.
Cyclists Injured
Two cyclists were injured yesterday in collisions with cars. At 8.5 a.m., Miss Ann Tobeck, of 216 Barrington street, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with injuries suffered in a collision at the corner of Frankleigh and Barrington streets. Her condition last evening was satisfactory Barbara Ann Perryman, aged eight, was admitted to the Public Hospital at 4.50 p.m. after a collision in Harewood road. Her condition last night was also reported to be satisfactory.
