Staff Appointments Confirmed

A talk on sandpit facilities was given by the principal of the Kindergarten Training College (Miss R. Wilkie) at the monthly meeting of the council of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association. She said that the staff and students had compiled a report on sand and water plav which was available for all kindergarten committees. It was reported that requests had been received from overseas students, including one from the Gold Coast, regarding kindergarten training in New Zealand. During the last two weeks the Director of Pre-school Services (Miss M. Gallagher) and her assistant (Miss I. M. Christisen) have visited the Kindergarten Training College and kindergartens to observe student training. Some of the staff of the college attended a course of lectures on education at the Christchurch Training College and a series of lectures on child development by Dr. Josephine Palmer. The council approved of the employment of additional lecturers for inservice training.

The following staff appointments were confirmed: Miss C. Thelning (Nuffield), Miss C. Cornish (Mairehau), Miss L. Williams (Fendalton), Miss M. Crook (Hillmorten), Miss S. Hay (Waimairi), and Mrs M. Harrison (Sumner). The resignations of Mrs E. Roberts (Beckenham) and Miss L. Alston (St. James’) were received.

The choir and drama groups of the Bryndwr branch of the League of Mothers entertained the members of the Spreydon branch at their March meeting. Mrs S. J.
