KAIAPOI R.S.A. BALL

Function Held In New Hall

The official opening ball, held in the new Kaiapoi R.S.A Hall last evening, proved a great success. Official guests were welcomed by the hostess (Mrs W. Gordon, sen.) and the president of the Kaiapoi R.S.A. (Mr A. N. Tirikatene). The official guests included the Mayor and Mayoress of Kaiapoi (Mr and Mrs N. E. Kirk), the daughter of the president of the R.S.A. (Miss Whetu Tirikatene), and Mr W. H. Gillespie, M.P. The new ballroom and lounge were tastefully decorated and a feature of the ball was the reinstatement of the formal dance programme and pencil. Supper was served by the women’s section of the RJS.A. and the music was by John Sanders Orchestra. The master of ceremonies was Mr Robert Wade.

During the evening the official guests were introduced to those present. They congratulated the Kaiapoi R.S.A. on the excellent work done in providing the new hall The chairman of the ball committee (Mr R. Bruce-Smith) thanked the members of the committee and Mesdames W. Gordon, sen., R. Collister and E. Baker. CRAIGHEAD OLD GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION: annual general meeting will be held at 8 p.m., Wednesday, 27th March, at Mrs Roger Ward’s, 84 Knowles street, Papanui. —Advt.
