Gift from Pitcairn
For about 10 months Pitcairn Islanders have been using a powerful, New Zealand-invented tim-ber-jack to launch their long whaleboats. In that time one of the island’s carvers fashioned a graceful vase to- express the Pitcairn people’s gratitude to the firm that gave them the jack, and recently the firm received the polished wooden vase, in the shape of a life-size human hand holding a horn-shaped vessel.
