CHEVIOT DOUBLES T.A.B. TICKET
Christchurch Hotel Floor Find A 5s ticket on the £630 OmegaCapull double at the Cheviot TrotHug Club’s meeting at Rangiora on Saturday is on its way back to its owner after being found on the floor of a Christchurch hotel. Bought in Wellington by a ship’s steward, it was returned to the Totalisator Agency Board office in Worcester street. No request, for a pay-out was made. But in the meantime the steward reported his loss to the Wellington police and at the TA.B, office where he bought the ticket. Acting on that information, Christchurch detectives began inquiries, on the understanding that a charge of false pretences could arise. Their interviews completed, the Christchurch detective office forwarded the ticket to Wellington, where it should by now have been returned to its rightful owner.
