Bowler's Day Out

Many good bowling performances have been recorded throughout New Zealand during this crickfet season, but few will have been better than that of E. Saywell, a Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association third grade player. In a match with Westland this week Saywell played a large part in dismissing Westland for 11. In the four overs he bowled he recorded three maidens and took seven wickets for four runs. Nine batsmen failed to score, and five runs came from extras. In Westland’s second innings Saywell again bowled well to take a further four wickets for two runs—a match analysis of 11 wickets for six runs. Saywell is a former Kent colts’ player, and has been in Christchurch now for nine years. He is a right-hand, medium-pace, out-swing bowler, and plays for Grosvenor in the association’s third grade A competition.
