MILK SUPPLY

Sir, —I read with disgust that 2000 gallons of milk is being brought daily from Dunedin to supplement the present short supply in Christchurch. I am keen to become a town milk supplier and have been on a waiting list for a very lung time now, and do not seem to make much headway on approaching the heads of the company. We here in Canterbury can supply all the milk that is needed if we are given the opportunity. Our ever-increasing population is needing more of this valuable food. We can produce it on our own farms. There should be no need to bring it at a bigger cost from another area. I have town supply farms all round me and the company’s trucks collecting their milk daily. It is a bitter pill to see such a large quantity of milk being brought in to the city when one is told locally: “Sorry, no hope at present.”— Yours, etc., MOO LOO. Rangiora, March 8, 1957.
