HAIRCUTS FOR MEN, BOYS

Charges Increase From Monday

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 8.

The Council of Registered Hairdressers has announced increases in the prices of men’s and boys’ haircuts as from Monday, March 11. Men’s haircutting will cost 3s and boys’ haircutting 2s 3d. Styling and other specialised hairdressing will be done at “rates commensurate with the amount of extra skill and time involved.” The council, which was recently formed under the aegis of the Federation of Tobacconists and Hairdressers, stated it is formulating a code of hygiene to be observed by its registered members. “This was not practicable under the fixed and rigid conditions inseparable from price control. “Apprentices and beginners will also be encouraged to improve the quality of their work and give the type of service which discriminating customers desire,” the council stated.
