Atom Test Objections
TOKYO, March 6. The Foreign Ministry announced today that the Japanese Government had urged Britain to reply to a second request for suspension of British nuclear bomb tests on Christmas Island. The announcement said that the new proposal was made on March 5 through the Japanese Ambassador to Britain, Mr Haruhiko Nishi. The 'Ministry refused to comment this morning on reports from London that Japan had made a third protest to Britain regarding British nuclear bomb tests in the area.
Reward for Native Couple.—An old African couple, whose courage and initiative led to the recent capture of an African police constable who ran amok at Malampaka, Tanganyika, killing 37 persons, has been honoured at a huge tribal gathering. They were given several bags of coins worth £125 as reward money.—Dar-es Salaam, March 7.
