SHIRLEY HIGH SCHOOL P.T.A.

The inaugural meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association of the new Shirley Boys’ High School was held recently with a large attendance. The headmaster (Mr C. V. Gallagher) complimented parents on the appearance of pupils. He said the new uniform had drawn favourable comment at two public outings. Sports were now under way and the school would be taking part in the inter-secondary schoo] tournament. The Canterbury Cricket’ Association had made a gift of £25. one parent had given the nucleus of a fund for a swimming bath, and another had offered cups for sport. Officers were elected as follows: —President. Mr M. Gordon; vicepresidents, Messrs A. Graham and A. Romeril; secretary, Mr D. Jane; auditor. Mr P. J. Halligan: committee—Messrs W. Wright, C. Ashdowne, C. Smith, D. Drummond. S. Larkin. K. Barrie, G. Gardner. Messdames H. Burney, A. Leslie. C. Ashdowne, H. Duffy. M. Gordon.
