NEW ZEALANDER FROM U.S.

Return After 45 Years’ Absence (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 3. An American citizen, Mr Walter Hogg, of Oakland, California, arrived in Auckland in the Orsova looking forward to his first “rubnose” in 45 years. For 45 years, he has been wandering about ’ the United States prospecting, mining and founding a chain of service stations. All that time he has been dreaming of rubbing noses, for he is a halfcaste Maori. “Guess I’m most of all looking forward to my first rub-nose in 45 years,” he drawled. He admits he made “a coupla bob’’ from his independent oil company. Yesterday at Thames there was a big family reunion and a hangi —and nose rubbing.
