HUTT PARK MEETING

Medetta Sound Trotter Medetta. a member of C. R. Berkett’s Templeton stable, is expected to improve-on hig already consistent record when he contests the Gracefield and Utility Handicaps, for straight-out trotters, on the first day of the Wellington Trotting Club's summer meeting, which will open at Hutt Park today. A five-year-old gelding by Medoro from Sandyetta, Medetta was a double winner at the Marlborough Trotting Club’s meeting last month, and although he lost the chance of filling a dividend-bearing place when he broke just short of the line in the Progressive Handicap at New’ Brighton last Saturday, that failure could easily be discounted when assessing his prospects today. Coronet Lass, Worthy Boy, Wha’ Hae, and Regulus have recent form to their credit, and will probably be Medetta’s strongest opponents. The double will be on the Summer Handicap and the Army Handicap. Lady Shona, Scottish Brigade, and Worthy Chief make most appeal in the first leg, and Bonny Venture, Johnny Hall, and Wainoni Loyal appear to dominate the second leg. The weather in Wellington yesterday was overcast with light showers, but unless there is a' decided deterioration the track should be in good order.
