RACING Pilot Light And My Friend For Wingatui

Pilot Light and My Friend will be at cramped odds for the double, the Wingatui and March Handicaps, on the second day of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s autumn meeting today. A Start for Shoal was in doubt yesterday. There is no weakness in a foreleg, but trouble given by a skin disease has left her tied up after her recent work. A decision about a start for the Riccarton mare will be left until today. The withdrawal of Shoal from the field would have a marked effect on the betting. Few, if any, of the others will be backed with much confidence against Pilot Light and Montrose, which will form a powerful- bracket for the Hazlett stable. Wingatui had heavy rain on Thursday night and the track benefited considerably. The Washdyke hacks, Rhythmonic and Pennant, are almost certain to fc’S their engagements in the Farewell and Valley Handicaps. They will be ridden by the Riccarton jockey, A. J. Stokes.. .Cock Crow has been scratched for the Allanton Hurdles and Gold Token has dropped out of the Wingatui Handicap. The connexions of Export said yesterday that the Lo Zingaro gelding was not a certain starter in the hurdles, in which Tut Tut and Native King will probably dispute favouritism.
