LOST PROPERTY

Sir.—While sympathising with “Traveller” and “Gran.” I, as one of the finders of lost property, add my letter. Years ago I found a purse which I handed to the lost property department at the Police Station, and they later informed me the owner* had been found. Perhaps she was pleased to have her purse returned, but it was too much to spend 3d on a letter of thanks. Next I found a diamond ring which I advertised in the paper. The owner answered, and I sent her the ring

by registered post. Again not even as much as a letter of thanks while I was out of pocket to the amount of 2s 9d. Is it anv wonder people keep what they find? I know I have found out •honesty isn’t the best policy Yours, etc., t TWICE BITTEN. January 19, 1957.
