N.Z. NATIONAL ORCHESTRA
Committee to Advise On Conductor (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 18. Members of the committee ot advice to make the final recommendation on the choice of a new conductor of the National Orchestra wbre announced by the Minister in charge of Broadcasting (Mr R. M. Algie) this evening. The members will be Dr. V. E. Galway, of Dunedin, Messrs C. Foster Browne, Christcnurcn Cathedral organist. Julius Hogben, of Auckland, Stanley Oliver, conductor of the Wellington Choral Society, and F. Turnovsky, president of the New Zealand Federation of Chamber Music Societies. They will act with the director and assistantdirector of the Broadcasing Service. “Though Mr James Robertson will be in Australia till well on in March,” Mr Algie said, “it will be possible to consult him on important questions as they arise, when all papers and reports are reviewed by the committee. They should soon i be available, since applications closed in London, Sydney, and Wellington on December 31, and I hope the announcement of an appointment of great public interest will not be long delayed.”
