A rise of eight pounds to 8-10, might not prevent Watch and Wait from completing a double at the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting when she contests the President’s Handicap at Washdyke tomorrow. Loyal Chief, runner-up to Watch and Wait yesterday, is missing from this field, and Watch and Wait’s strongest opponents will probably be Canon, Keep Time, and Tess. Canon and Tess are newcomers at the meeting, but Keep Time was a fair third when tested over a middle distance yesterday. lone and Red Elf are the form horses for the Smithfield Hack Handicap, the second leg of the double, but a peak performance by Aquarius will make him a strong light-weight contender.
