SCRATCHINGS OF HORSES
TA.B. Authorities’ Statement (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. December 27. The Totalisator Agency Board in Wellington today stated that there had been no official scratching of Supreme Court at any office of their orsanisation throughout the country. It was discovered, however, that the name of the horse had been pencilled out—obviously by members of the public—on a number of sheets These people, the Totalisator Agency Board authorities believe, were guided by what they had seen in morning newspapers in regard to the scratching of Supreme Court. The public, they point out, should in no way tamper with the official sheets in T.A.B. offices. Unless a horse is officially scratched with the red ink stamp, carrying the word “scratched” at the end of it, then it must be presumed by the public to be still in the field. [Supreme Court, which won the Railway Handicap at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, was erroneously stated in a Press Association message from Auckland to have been scratched from the race.] T.A.B.
