ADVENTIST CHURCH CONFERENCE
PRESIDENT’S REPORT ON YEAR’S WORK “The days in which we are living are fraught with tremendous possibilities for weal and woe.” said Pastor W. W. Petrie president of the South New Zealand Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, in his annual report to delegates at their conference in Pascoe Park, Chaneys. Pastor Petrie said that he considered that the world was nearing the close of its history, and that the present difficult times were a very real challenge to the Christian church. The report said that the Adventist Church in the South Island had made progress during the year. A new church had been built at Aranui, ahd plans, were in hand for the building of new churches at Oamaru and Oxford. The selection committee of the conference, appointed at the first session today, is as follows: Mr C. T. McPhee (Aranui), Mr A. E. Woodley (Ashburton), Mr F. W. Robson (Blenheim), Mr S. H. Ashby (Christchurch City), Mrs V. Stotesbury (Conference), Mrs M. Facer (Dunedin), Mrs G. Best (Greymouth), Mr E. Gallagher (Invercargill', Mrs C. Gillespie (Nelson), Mrs V. Saunders (Oxford), Mr J. Shearer (Papanui), Mrs A. Wilton (Rangiora), Mr G. T. Hedges (St. Albans), Mr J. Stark (Sydenham), Mr F. Wham (Timaru), and Mr W. Wright (Westport). The selection committee nominates the standing committees of the conference session.
