ECUMENICAL YOUTH CONFERENCE

ATTENDANCE OF MORE THAN 1100

(New Zealand Press Association) PALM. NORTH, Dec. 27.

Between 1100 and 1200 young people are attending the ecumenical youth conference convened by the youth committee of the National Council of Churches in New Zealand. The conference was opened this evening by the Rev. Dr. George MacLeod, Moderator-designate of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

Messages from the World Council of Churches, church councils in Australia and South-east Asia, the Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie), the Prime Minister (Mr Holland), and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) have been received by the youth committee.

The conference theme is “Christ Unites.”
