Tucana Wins Yacht Race To Akaroa

Only two yachts finished in the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club’s race from Lyttelton to Akaroa for the Admiral Burges - Watson trophy on Wednesday. The remainder of the field retired at various stages of the race. The Tucana (L. Bachop) finished at 6.37 p.m. on Wednesday, and Fantasy (E. P. Wills) finished at 12.8 a.m. yesterday morning. Earlier in the race, off Little Akaloa, Tucana led Fantasy by a comfortable margin, with Seafarer third, Aorere fourth, Passat fifth, and lolanthe tailing the field in sixth place.
