MAN KILLED

YALDHURST ROAD COLLISION WIFE AND CHILDREN IN HOSPITAL A man was killed, and his wife and two children injured and admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, when the truck on which they were riding was involved in a collision with a car at the corner of Carmen and Yaldhurst roads at 7.15 p.m. yesterday. He was George Robinson Jacobs, of 21 Redruth avenue, Christchurch. Mr Jacobs and his wife, Mrs Eileen Jacobs. and their two children, Catherine, aged three, and Marilyn, aged 20 months, were riding on the deck of a truck driven by Mr Raymond Arthur Blackwell, of 461 Gloucester street, Christchurch, which was travelling west along Yaldhurst road. The car involved in the collision was travelling north along Carmen road, and was driven by Peter James Barnett, a 17-year-old secondary school boy, of Benhar, near Balclutha. Mr Jacobs was thrown on to the road by the impact and died shortly after admission to the Christchurch Public Hospital. Other passengers in Mr Blackwell’s truck were not injured. Peter Barnett and his parents, who were passengers in the car, were not hurt. Mrs Jacobs late last evening was on the seriously ill list and the condition of her two children was satisfactory.

TWO MEN INJURED CARS COLLIDE AT STYX BRIDGE Two men were injured in a collision between two cars on the Styx bridge about 6.45 p.m. on Monday. They are Mr James Grigor, of 125 Antigua street, and Mr Trevor Alfred Tucker, of 110 Antigua street. Both men were admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, Mr Tucker being placed cn the seriously ill list. Last evening Mr Tucker’s condition had improved slightly and he had been removed from the seriously ill list. Mr Grigor's condition was reported as satisfactory.

BOY INJURED When he was struck by a taxi in Colombo street at 7.40 p.m. on Monday, John Cook, aged seven, of 27 Middlepark road, was injured and taken by a St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where he was admitted. His condition last evening was reported as satisfactory. CHILD RUN OVER BY CAR (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, December 25. A four-year-old boy, Trevor James Hamilton, of Moeroa, was run over by a car at Eltham yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to the Hawera Hospital with a fractured thigh. The car was driven by Mrs Audrey Jessie Blackstrode, of Eltham.
