MINOR FIRES
Fire broke out in an office at North End Motors, 829 Colombo street, at 3.54 a.m. yesterday. Two engines from the Central fire station attended. Besides damage to the switchboard, the office walls and ceiling were slightly charred. An oven fire at a house at 74 Richardson terrace, occupied by Mr M. J Bishop, was dealt with by engines from the Central and Woolston fire stations at 4.42 p.m. yesterday. No damage was done. A motor-car. owned by Mr Robert Walter Reid, of 330 Barba does street, caught fire at 6.21 p.m. yesterday, when parked outside Mr Reid’s home It was apparently caused by short circuiting of the wiring. Two engines from the Central station extinguished the blaze. Some damage to the upholstery of 4he car was done. Severe damage was done to an interior wall in a house at 16 Croziers road. St. Albans, by a fire to which the Central Fire Brigade was called at 9.8 a.m. yesterday. The house is occunied by Mr Clarence Dudley McQuillan. The fire was caused by a space heater. Two engines attended the outbreak.
