INQUIRY INTO AIR CRASH
Bristol Freighter In Malaya

WELLINGTON, December 20. A New Zealander will be president of the court of inquiry convened to investigate the crash of the R.N.Z.A.F. Bristol Freighter in Malaya recently. He is Wing Commander R’. .F. Watson, of Greymouth, who is at present on loan to the Royal Air Force on the headquarters staff of the Far East Air Force in Singapore. The Minister of Defence (Mr T. L. Macdonald) said today that another Royal New Zealand Air Force officer, Flying Officer H. F. Jensen, of Masterton. would also be a member of the court. Flying Officer Jensen is engineering officer of No. 14 (Fighter) Squadron. R.N.Z.A.F., at present serving in Malaya. The other two members of the court are Royal Air Force officers. Squadron Leader R. G. Churcher and Flight Lieutenant J. G. Dickie.
Mr Macdonald said that although the crashed Bristol was a New Zealand aircraft with a New Zealand crew it was serving as part of the Far East Air Force and the court had been convened by that headquarters. ■ *
