CANTERBURY WOMEN’S CLUB
OFFICERS ELECTED The various clubs within the Canterbury Women's Club have had an active and successful year. This was recorded in the forty-third report presented at the annual meeting of the club last evening. The membership now stands at 335.
The club has continued to sponsor a child under the Save the Children Fund, and has arranged gatherings to raise money for local welfare organisations. Besides evening and afternoon social activities, four luncheon meetings with interesting speakers on a wide variety of subjects have been held. The balance-sheet showed that the building fund had increased steadily. Mrs W. D. Bunt was elected president of the club. Other officers elected were: vice-president, Mesdames J. Allott. J. Meldrum and E. M. Wise; committee, Mesdames E. H. Barton. L. P. Bennett, E. G. McNish. Hilda Reeve. H. L. Wilson and C. E. Wren.
Mrs Stubberfield, the retiring president, was presented by Mrs Bunt with a marcasite brooch and matching earrings and a sheaf of flowers in appreciation of her four years’ term of office.
